Attended by Zhao Zhihou, Secretary of the School’s Party Committee; Li Ming, Associate Dean of Teaching; and all members of the Teaching Committee, the meeting focused on in-depth discussions of three core topics: preparation for the undergraduate education evaluation and audit, AI educational technology training, and revisions to teaching management regulations.

The meeting reviewed the school’s performance during the recent university-led mock exercise for the undergraduate teaching evaluation materials review. During the exercise, the university strictly followed formal evaluation protocols and implemented a comprehensive, multi-dimensional material review mechanism to conduct a holistic diagnostic assessment of teaching archive quality. Upon receiving the task list, all relevant departments of SFL meticulously organized and submitted the required teaching archives in accordance with evaluation standards, demonstrating the professionalism and accountability of faculty. However, shortcomings in standardized teaching archive construction were also identified. All responsible units have now initiated rectification procedures to ensure optimal readiness for the formal evaluation.

To address AI-driven technological advancements, the school will collaborate with the Faculty Development Center to launch the “AI-Enhanced Foreign Language Teaching” training program. The training will include frontier analysis of AI applications, case studies of teaching scenarios, and hands-on practice with intelligent tools, aiming to build a faculty capacity-building system for smart education. The meeting called on all departments to encourage faculty participation, fostering deeper integration of AI technology into curriculum design, classroom interaction, and academic assessment.

The meeting also discussed draft revisions to the “Teaching Workload Management Measures of the School of Foreign Languages” and the “Teaching Incentive Regulations of the School of Foreign Languages”. The revisions aim to strengthen faculty professional development support systems and provide sustained institutional backing for education reforms.

In his closing remarks, Zhao Zhihou emphasized that teaching evaluation serves as a critical benchmark for assessing institutional effectiveness and a strategic opportunity to refine the quality assurance system. He urged the school to enhance accountability, prioritize evaluation criteria, address identified issues, and continuously improve the teaching quality assurance framework. Further affirming the school’s commitment to supporting faculty development through diversified platforms to elevate teaching competenciesZhao called on teaching committee members to lead faculty with passion and dedication, unite efforts, and drive a new leap forward in talent cultivation of the school.
