In order to further expand employment opportunities for graduate students, deepen the breadth and depth of university-enterprise cooperation, and provide students with a diverse and high-quality internship and practical platform, on April 24, our school organized 83 Master's in Translation students from the 2023 cohort to participate in professional cognitive internships at companies Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd., Xi'an Zhongke Wenge Technology Co., Ltd., Xi'an Yaxincheng Medical InfoTech Co., Ltd., and Xi'an Mylan Information Technology Co., Ltd. DeanCao Ruonan, Vice Dean of Administration Yang Ying, Director of the MTI Education Center, He Hua, Head of the MTI Practice Base, Chen Hanliang, faculty representatives Professor Tian Jin, Professor Li Tie, Associate Professor Zhang Min, graduate counselor Zhao Mingxing, and graduate secretary Zhou Dan also accompanied the students.

The first stop of the internship activity took place at Global Tone Communication Technology (Shaanxi) Co., Ltd. It is a subsidiary of China Translation Corporation and a national high-tech enterprise, directly under the China Publishing Group Corporation, which is affiliated with the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China. As a leading artificial intelligence company in China, it is dedicated to using its independently developed AI systems to support defense, national security, and government departments in making secure and reliable command decisions in complex environmental scenarios. It is an important part of the country’s strategic technological forces. The students were warmly welcomed by Ren Fei, Director of the Innovation Application Business Group, Ji Zilong, Director of the Data Operations Department, Chen Dong, Director of the Language Services Business Group, Zhang Qi, Director of the Human Resources Department, and others. During the visit to the company’s exhibition hall, the latest research achievements in various fields, including machine translation technology, TMAX corpus engine, subtitles and voice recognition, semantic search, knowledge graphs, and big data visualization, were highlighted as part of the “Yiyun Language Technology Ecosystem.” Company representatives briefly introduced the development history, current status, and prospects of the translation industry, the main categories of translation services, and the job requirements in the sector. They also provided answers to the students’ questions regarding the background of the translation industry, the company’s activities, and how these aligned with the students’career interests and the company’s business scope.

Afterwards, the faculty team led three groups of students to visit and learn from Xi’an Zhongke Wenge Technology Co., Ltd., Xi’an Yaxin Cheng Medical Technology Information Co., Ltd., and Xi'an Mailan Information Technology Co., Ltd.
Xi’an Zhongke Wenge Technology Co., Ltd. is an artificial intelligence company incubated by the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The company primarily provides AI products and services to government and enterprise organizations, focusing on complex data analysis and AI-assisted decision-making, aiming to achieve the commercialization of AI in complex scenarios. General Manager Wu Xiaofei, Deputy General Manager Ma Xin, and Human Resources Director Tian Weiqing received the visiting delegation from our school. The company representatives introduced the overall staffing and development situation, including aspects such as corporate culture, skill requirements, and career advancement paths for students.

Xi'an Yaxin Cheng Pharmaceutical Technology Information Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tigermed, a leading pharmaceutical group. As a top medical translation service provider in China, the company specializes in translation services in the life sciences field. Its business covers services such as early-stage medical product development, non-clinical research, clinical research, and registration filing. The company's HR manager Li Huanhua, Translation Supervisor of the Medical Devices Department Feng Wenya, and Project Manager of the Medical Devices Translation Operations Department Li Mengyang warmly welcomed the internship team. They introduced the knowledge and processes of project management in the translation industry, starting from the company’s business needs.

Xi’an Mailan Information Technology Co., Ltd. is part of Beijing Aiyi Hulian Group. The company focuses on the medical, pharmaceutical, and medical device language verticals, providing professional translation solutions for domestic and international pharmaceutical companies, CROs, hospitals, and medical research institutions. General Manager Li Kaiyue, HR Manager Song Yueyue, and Quality Control Director Wen Heng, combined medical translation trials with explanations, introducing the current state of the medical translation market and the skill requirements for medical translators, starting from a comparison between professional human and machine translation in the field.

To promote more practical outcomes from school-enterprise cooperation and support the high-quality employment of graduate students, the faculty team of the school engaged in in-depth discussions with four companies on strengthening professional collaboration and expanding cooperation pathways. Moving forward, both sides will leverage their strengths in areas such as co-building courses, professional training, and specialized research, deepening cooperation, enhancing the alignment of supply and demand, and achieving mutual resonance between the school and enterprises.

With strong support from the school, our institution organized students to visit language service companies for an awareness internship activity, preparing them for the next stage of professional internships. Through on-site visits and face-to-face communication with industry experts, students gained insights into the employment needs of companies while broadening their understanding of the scope of language service work. This experience opened up new perspectives for their future job search and career choices. In the future, the school will invite industry experts to give lectures, providing targeted support for students' internships and employment by focusing on improving language skills, translation technology, and service awareness.
