On the afternoon of April 10, 2024, our school held a faculty meeting in the Second Classroom Auditorium. The meeting was attended by the leadership team of the school’s Party Committee, as well as all faculty and staff. The meeting was chaired by Wang Jun, the Party Secretary of the school.
Secretary Wang conveyed and deployed key work tasks for both the school and the department. He encouraged faculty members to leverage the strengths of their disciplines, unite their efforts, pursue pragmatic goals, and create greater opportunities for development, particularly in relation to faculty performance evaluations and the department’s achievements in teaching and research in 2023.
Liu Jianbo, the Deputy Party Secretary, emphasized that our school should focus on strengthening its foundation, addressing weaknesses, maintaining standards, and highlighting its unique features. Secretary Liu stressed the importance of daily student management, counselor team development, and ensuring safety and stability. Liu also communicated the school’s plans for graduate employment, and noted that the department would continue to develop a mechanism to involve all staff in supporting students’ job placements, striving to ensure high-quality and sufficient employment opportunities for graduates.
Li Ming, the Associate Dean for Teaching, shared insights from relevant school meetings and encouraged faculty and students to actively participate in high-level teaching and disciplinary competitions. She also proposed measures to optimize the program structure and improve teaching management.
Su Rui, the Associate Dean for Research, reviewed the department’s previous research efforts and outlined the key research goals for this semester. She emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong research atmosphere and encouraged faculty members to set incremental goals aligned with professional title evaluations and academic development, while maintaining regular research activities.
Yang Ying, the Associate Dean for Administration, conveyed the school’s policies on annual faculty evaluations, campus safety management and financial status. She stressed that all staff should be mindful of safety, stay updated on new school policies, and continue to fulfill their primary duties. Yang also outlined the safety, personnel and other key administrative tasks for this semester.
Finally, Dean Cao Ruonan gave a concluding speech. She analyzed the opportunities and challenges the department currently faces at the macro, meso and micro levels. While recognizing the department’s achievements and breakthroughs, she urged all faculty and staff to embrace the new era, seize opportunities and face challenges head-on. Dean Cao encouraged everyone to make personal development plans and actively engage in the ongoing reforms.
This meeting provided a comprehensive summary of last semester’s work, outlined key priorities for the current semester, and helped the department strategically plan and allocate resources for steady and rapid development in all areas.
