On June 4, 2024, at 230 PM, Yang Ying, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Northwest University, and He Hua, Director of the MTI Center, organized a visit for 18 student representatives from the Class of 2023 MTI to the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum.
Under the guidance of a dedicated museum interpreter, the students explored the museum. The interpreter provided a comprehensive and detailed overview of topics including the history of archaeology, theoretical methods, interpretation of archaeological findings, and concepts and technologies of cultural heritage preservation. With liveliness and concision, the interpreter effectively conveyed the essence of archaeology, its practical approaches and its significance. Additionally, by using relics and artifacts as entry points and employing the temporal and spatial framework of archaeology, the interpreter vividly depicted the grand narrative of the origins and development of civilization, bringing the characters from ancient artifacts to life within the museum.
After the visit, museum staff patiently addressed various questions posed by the students. This interactive exchange deepened the students’ understanding of Shaanxi's rich historical culture and heightened their appreciation for the unique charm and depth of archaeology. The visit enriched their knowledge base, broadened their innovative perspectives, and enhanced their awareness of industry practices.
