On the afternoon of June 5, the School of Foreign Languages held a meeting to discuss the preparation for the 2024 Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Cup National Talent Competition. The meeting was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan and attended by all the guiding teachers of the various language competition teams.
First, Dean Cao invited the team leaders from Japanese, Russian and English oral and written translation teams to share their experiences and challenges from last year’s competition. After listening to their remarks, Dean Cao suggested considering a broader recruitment strategy, such as including first-year MTI students and those studying a second foreign language. And the school should fully utilize its existing resources and actively prepare to achieve even better results this year. Dean Cao also expressed concern about the changes in the competition format for the English group this year. In response to these new developments, she emphasized the need for stronger collaboration and communication among the English speaking, writing and reading teams to prepare adequately for the changes.
At the end of the meeting, Dean Cao delivered a summary speech to thank all the guiding teachers for their hard work in supporting the competition efforts. Dean Cao reiterated the school’s commitment to continue fully supporting the teams and expressed her earnest expectations. She hoped them to showcase their excellence in this year’s competition and achieve outstanding results, so as to bring honor to our school.
