On the afternoon of December 27, 2024, a delegation from Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press (referred to as “SFLEP”), led by vice president Ye Qing, visited the SFL at Northwest University. They held an in-depth exchange and discussion with the school leadership and faculty representatives on topics such as discipline construction, textbook collaboration, and student employment. The SFLEP participants included Xu Hui, director of the Shaanxi Center, Bao Xiaodong, manager of Shaanxi branch, Zheng Dong, marketing manager of Shaanxi branch, and Jin Laichao, director of the Jiangxi Teaching Service Center.
At the seminar, Dean Cao Ruonan delivered the opening speech, warmly welcoming the SFLEP delegation and providing a detailed introduction to the school's achievements and development plans in regional and national studies transformation in recent years. Dean Cao expressed the school's desire to collaborate with SFLEP in hosting high-end academic conferences and building international academic exchange platforms, while further deepening cooperation in areas such as CET-4 and CET-6 textbooks, graduate exam textbooks, the publication of new digital textbooks, and discipline construction. Additionally, Dean Cao proposed that both parties jointly apply for the Chinese Academic Translation Project to promote excellent Chinese academic achievements to the world and further enhance the international dissemination of academic outcomes.

Subsequently, the deputy party secretary of the school Liu Jianbo spoke about student employment issues. He analyzed the current employment situation and challenges faced by foreign language graduates and emphasized that the school's students possess strong potential, solid work ethics, and high execution abilities. Secretary Liu expressed the hope that SFLEP would provide support in the construction of internship and training bases, helping students improve their practical abilities and employment competitiveness, and better adapt to market demands.

Vice President Ye Qing of SFLEP highly praised the SFL's achievements in country and region studies, talent development, and textbook innovation. Vice President Ye stated that SFLEP would leverage its resources to actively support the school's needs in areas such as the development of digital textbooks, promotion of cross-cultural education, and organization of academic conferences. They would also provide resources such as expert lectures, internship base construction, and event support to jointly promote student development and discipline advancement.

At the end of the seminar, Dean Cao Ruonan and Vice President Ye Qing officially signed the MTI Internship Base Cooperation Agreement on behalf of both parties. The signing of this agreement marks an important step in their cooperation on graduate-level practical education, internship base construction, and talent-cultivation model innovation. It lays a solid foundation for further enhancing the practical abilities of Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) students and the integration of industry, academia, and research.

The seminar clarified the cooperation intentions of both parties in areas such as discipline construction, textbook publishing, and student employment, and several preliminary plans were established. In the future, both sides will strengthen communication, fully leverage their respective advantages, jointly promote the development of cross-cultural education and translation practice, and work together to create a high-quality foreign language education and talent cultivation platform.
