Competition Rules by Track
1. Speech Track
l Preliminary Round
Date: May 17, 2025 (Saturday), 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Venue: Chang’an Campus (specific location TBD)
Requirements:
Topic: “The First Step,” with a self-chosen subtitle. Original content, no script.
Duration: Within 3 minutes
Q&A Session (1 minute for responses)
l Final Round
Date: May 28, 2025 (Wednesday), 2:00 PM
Venue: Student Activity Center (Starry Sky Lecture Hall)
Requirements:
Round 1: Assigned Topic Speech (3 minutes, time penalty for exceeding)
Round 2: Impromptu Speech (Top 6, 20-minute preparation, 2-minute speech, no materials)
Q&A session after each round (1 minute for responses, time penalty for exceeding)
2. Reading Track
l Preliminary Round
Date: April 20, 2025 (Sunday), 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Venue: Chang’an Campus (specific location TBD)
Requirements:
Part 1: 5 questions (test breadth of reading)
Part 2: 5 articles (test depth of analysis and logical reasoning skills)
l Final Round
Date: May 11, 2025 (Sunday), 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Requirements:
Text-based writing (test comprehension and critical thinking)
3. Writing Track
l Preliminary Round
Date: April 20, 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Requirements:
Complete a short essay of more than 300 words (topic announced on-site)
Computer-based writing (bring your own device)
l Final Round
Date: May 11, 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Requirements:
Complete an argumentative essay of more than 400 words (topic announced on-site)
